Uncle Rod was an amazing and special man. I didn't get a lot of time with him, but I treasure the time I did have. The bond he had with my mum was so unique. Mum would always tell me about the silly things uncle Rod did as a kid. My favourite was the "pets" he would collect in his pockets and his mum would find these bugs when she was ironing. I love you Uncle Rodney, and I'm so happy that you are no longer in pain. All my love

A FRIEND: The first time I had the pleasure of meeting Rodney was in 1989 when I visited South Africa from Australia with my parents and went to see my young cousin, Michelle who was then 6yo. I remember being told after returning to Australia and as the years went on, just how sick Rodney was and that he was literally just living for one 'special person' in his life. That person was Michelle, his daughter ! He was a gentle man by my account, very pleasant to speak with, someone who could listen with empathy and understanding, I felt ! He was a very hard worker, assisting with anything he could to assist Michelle and NOTHING was ever too much ! He was so dedicated and in the face of such adversity, he thought steadfast to achieve his goals. There are not too many males (though I am also lucky enough to have one) with such grit and determination, whilst trying to cope with his own failing health ? I shall never forget you Rod. YOU WILL BE SADLY MISSED REST IN PEACE LOVE FROM LEA AND PETER, MATTHEW & ANDREW OXOXOX
