Diedie, I can't express how much I will miss you. You filled my life. All my best and worst memories have you in them - the times you looked after us and fetched us from school, teaching me to love history and to have an opinion, showing me how to change a plug and fix things, to helping me with all my art projects and exams, and consoling me in my darkest hours. The only man who told me I was beautiful and I actually believed it. You didn't like dancing but allowed me to embrace you and pull you across the kitchen floor. I love you forever.

When someone calls you at 3am you know something is wrong. I knew you were gone. Before I got to say goodbye or give you a love one last time. But your soul is now free. You are reunited with your true love, our precious nannie. You are pain free for the first time in many years. I'm so glad that I had the honour of having you as a grandfather. I'm most grateful that both my kids knew their great grandfather. I love you forever.
